BLOND AT IT'S BEST!
Conant Ball certainly made some quality furniture, as witnessed by this vintage ensemble which is made of hard wood (most likely maple or birch). This particular design is attributed to Russel Wright, who designed for Conant Ball in the late 30s and early 1940s. This set was produced in the late 1940s or 1950s. Each piece is marked with the Conant Ball trademark, but there is no markings indicating that it is for certain a Russel Wright design. The original blond finish is in spectacular condition and we cannot find any flaws, whatsoever, to report. Either this set received no use at all, or someone really took care when dining. Let's start with the gate leg table (5 legs): Included is not one, nor two, but THREE leaves. Each leaf is numbered and each has hardware latches to make a tight fit and add sturdyness to the table when in place. Each leaf measures 13" wide. So, the table can expand from 62" (5 feet, 2 inches) long, all the way up to 102" (8 feet, 6 inches) long, depending on how many leaves are used. The table measures 40" wide.
The chairs consist of FOUR side chairs and TWO Captain's chairs (arm chairs). They feature a classic, mid-century design and are very sturdy in all cases. Someone made tan, coudary cushions for each chair. The cushions are not Conant Ball originals, but are included with the set at no extra charge (three cushions need a bit of stitching at the seams and all could use a cleaning).

We cannot say enough about the quality and condition of this set. It would certainly make a nice addition to any retro setting and the condition does not get any better than this for a vintage set.
