Description

Decca Records (DL-8313). This Hi-Fi album features the music of several orchestras and pop singers, but what makes this LP so very collectible is the 'Petty Girl" art on the cover. Esquire and George Petty produced a series of Petty Girl album covers for various Big Bands, and this one is a great example. The album cover rates a #9 (there is a bit of writing on the back in ink) and the record rates a #7. There are 12 selections on the record including "Its a Wonderful World", The Wang Wang Blues", and "The Elephant Tango". Performers include Gordon Jenkins and his orchestra, The Commanders featuring Eddie Grady, and Jerry Gray and his orchestra. Nice addition for a bachelor pad music library.

RECORD AND COVER RATING GUIDE:
Most of our records and covers will fall in the 8, 9 & 10 rating. We don’t deal in anything less than a #6, unless it is REAL rare.
10. MINT -
Record: Perfect, like new, pristine and unused. Absolutely no flaws of any kind. Very few records will make this rating.
Cover/Sleeve: Generally still sealed and mint. Not a flaw to be found. Very few old covers/sleeves will make this rating.
9. NEAR MINT -
Record: Would be considered mint, but has probably been played. Still looks like brand new.
Cover/Sleeve: Might show minuscule spots of wear at seam from handling or storing, but one would have to look very hard to see anything.
8. VERY FINE -
Record: Excellent condition and extremely clean. Record has been played, but there is not much evidence of use and certainly no scratches of any kind.
Cover/Sleeve shows only very minor wear at seam and/or corners. Printed surface is near mint and showing no wear.
7. FINE -
Record: Very nice example. Record may show very minor use, possibility a minor hairline or two, but not audible. What most people call mint, usually falls into this rating.
Cover/Sleeve: Only the slightest of surface wear on surface and/or some very minor wear at seam and/or corners. Nothing to speak of.
6. VERY GOOD -
Record: Very light use from handling and possibility a few hairline scratches, but still nothing audible.
Cover/Sleeve: May have light wear at seam, corners, and possibly a small crease, scratch or a light smudge on surface, but very minor. Faint evidence of ring wear possibly starting to show.
5. GOOD -
Record: Light scratches in record could be audible, but nothing too bad. Still plays fine without too much noise
Cover/Sleeve: Still very presentable with some wear here and there, but nothing too serious. Some evidence of ring wear, but still light.
4. FAIR -
Record: Shows use. Scratches will be somewhat obvious when played.
Cover/Sleeve: Starting to show quite a bit of wear here and there, but still presentable. Tears at seams or creases on cover.
3 AND BELOW -
Pretty much trashed. Don't waste your money on these ratings, unless it is an extremely rare record.
